Here is a recap of a few highlights from this week in my role as State Senator from District 52, as well as updates from our Congressional Campaign. Fulfilling my duties as State Senator will be a top priority for me during this campaign. After all, I took an oath to honorably serve my constituents and the Constitution.
“We know only too well that war comes not when the forces of freedom are strong, but when they are weak. It is then that tyrants are tempted.”
–Ronald Reagan, “Peace Through Strength,” 1980
My Statement on Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ukraine and its people. I condemn Vladimir Putin and his dictatorial invasion of Ukraine. What we are seeing coming to fruition, though force and aggression, is Vladimir Putin’s decades-long plan of re-assembling the old Soviet Union.
The Reagan Doctrine, espoused by the President himself in the quote above, was anchored in “Peace Through Strength.” This week I issued my statement on Ukraine. It harkens back to “Peace By Strength” and is a call to our current, past and future Presidential administrations that we must be seen as strong and not weak. On Saturday, I received a briefing on Russia-Ukraine policy from foreign policy experts. In the coming days, I plan to weigh-in more on this topic with how we can address our foreign policy. As Congressman, my job will be to help check and shape policy of the executive branch; that is what I do as State Senator. Leadership is needed now.
Attended YMBC Ball
We attended the 82nd YMBC (Young Men’s Business Club) Mardi Gras ball in Pascagoula on Friday night. Ed Wiggins, my great-grandfather, was highly involved in the business community as owner and founder of Wiggins Drugstores. I’ve attended (and served as a duke) of YMBC through the years. It’s an honor every time. His daughter, my great aunt Renee Wiggins Enger served as queen and my father Chris Wiggins served as King of Joy. Poppy’s legacy of service lives on. He was a lifelong Rotarian. I, too, love being a Rotarian. I do everything I can to honor the legacy of service he started.

Mississippi Wind Pool

“South Mississippi citizens continue to suffer under the weight of insurance costs . . . inaction and a lack of leadership at the federal level have allowed flood insurance rates to skyrocket. . . I am willing to stand up and fight for us to be treated fairly and to put money back in our pockets.”

Four Addys Won By The Focus Group for Our Campaign
“The Addys” are the Oscars of advertising. The Focus Group, our team member which put together our website and announcement video and provides ongoing social media, advertising and communications support, took home multiple top awards, including Gold for our announcement video. Click HERE.
Being a Congressman means assembling a team that can serve the constituents at the highest level. This is just one example of what we bring to the table. This is outward recognition of the hard work, creativity, and leadership that our campaign team shows every day. It’s proof of what constituents will get in the halls of Congress.
