Here is a recap of a few highlights from this week in my role as State Senator from District 52, as well as updates from our Congressional Campaign. Fulfilling my duties as State Senator will be a top priority for me during this campaign. After all, I took an oath to honorably serve my constituents and the Constitution.

Attended the Grand Opening of Pearl River County Intervention Court Office

I was able to attend the grand opening of the Pearl River County Intervention Court Office. Skyler, who I’m pictured with, said, “Drug Court saved my life” and in the process reconnected her with her 8-year-old son. Proof of why I have led on helping make drug courts and intervention courts a reality in Mississippi. Not only are costs on our court and corrections systems saved, but we change the future of Mississippians for the better. This is the leadership you will see from me on the national level. While also there, I was able to address the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors and join in congratulating the Pearl River County Community College Cheerleaders on their victory.
Spoke to Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians
It was an honor speaking at Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians’ annual Capitol Day on Wednesday. I was joined by rural scholars, residents from several family medicine residencies around the state, including Memorial Hospital on the Coast and William Carey in Hattiesburg and active physicians in our communities. High level healthcare leads to high-paying jobs along with increased economic activity. I’ve pledged to do all I can to build on and expand our economic development in South Mississippi. Spoke at Sumrall Lion’s Club

What a great turnout at the Sumrall Lion’s Club Thursday evening. The Lion’s Club does great work locally and internationally, particularly in addressing blindness. While there, I got to meet Andy Davis who is the head coach of Sumrall High School’s baseball team. They have an incredible program with years of tremendous success. I look forward to keeping up with them. Also, a big thank you to Dr. Beam for inviting me to attend and speak.
Met with CWA Legislative Political Action Team
I had the opportunity to meet with James Young and other members of the CWA (Communications Workers of America) Legislative Political Action Team Wednesday morning at the state Capitol. This group represents a voice on the job everyday. I’m always willing to meet face-to-face with concerned citizens of South Mississippi.

Ocean Springs Mardi Gras Parade

Started Mardi Gras off right at the Ocean Springs Parade! What a wonderful place and people we have here in South Mississippi! Being with the people of South Mississippi is and will always be my priority. Representing US, not the status quo in D.C. is what we are about.
